Learning Management Platform

A custom-built LMS for a content creator to host and sell her own courses directly to her audience, no platform fees.

Client Blossom Affia

01The brief

The problem

I've built a real audience and I want to sell my own courses directly to them.

Renting space on a platform like Teachable or Kajabi means paying fees on every sale, forever, and I never really own my student data or the relationship that comes with it.

We need a platform that's mine, where students sign up, go through orientation, and learn, and where I keep full control of my content, my payments, and my students.

02Implementation plan

From brief to build

How we turned the client's challenge into a system their team actually uses.

01

Design two experiences

Designed the student portal and the admin portal as separate experiences, each built for its own user from the ground up.

02

Build the platform

Coded it in Next.js with a Supabase backend, with its own authentication and a guided orientation flow for new students.

03

Deploy beside the brand

Launched it alongside her existing marketing website, so the whole experience reads as one brand rather than a rented storefront.

04

Hand over ownership

Delivered a platform she owns outright, with no per-seat fees and no dependency on a third-party template.

03Before & After

What changed

Before

  • Blossom Affia had built a real audience and wanted to sell her own courses directly to them.
  • The usual path, renting space on a platform like Teachable or Kajabi, meant ongoing fees on every sale, forever.
  • It also meant no real ownership of student data, or of the relationship that comes with it.
  • She was paying to rent the storefront, the customer list, and the experience itself.

After

  • Her students now sign up and learn on a platform that is entirely hers, with her own signup, login, and orientation flow.
  • Course content is delivered through a dedicated student portal, and she manages everything from a separate admin dashboard.
  • She keeps full control of her student data, her payments, and how the experience looks and feels.
  • The platform sits beside her marketing website as one cohesive brand, not a rented template.

04Why this approach

Renting a platform meant paying indefinitely for something that could be owned outright, and it capped how much of the relationship she actually controlled.

Building it custom meant she keeps full control of her student data, her payments, and how the experience actually looks and feels, instead of being boxed into someone else's template.

For a creator whose audience is her business, ownership of that audience is the whole point.

05Impact & benefits

Full ownership of the platform, the student data, and every payment, with platform fees eliminated.
