01The brief

The problem

Claude Code is powerful on its own, but most of the actual work in my business happens inside other tools: Gmail, GoHighLevel, ClickUp, Supabase, Figma, and a dozen more.

Every one of those tools lived in its own tab, with no way for Claude Code to reach into them directly. Anything it needed to know had to be copied in by hand, and anything it produced had to be copied back out.

I wanted to see what happens when Claude Code can reach all of those tools directly instead of me sitting in the middle, moving data back and forth.

From brief to build

How we turned the client's challenge into a system their team actually uses.

Map the real toolset

Listed every tool actually used day to day: CRM, project management, databases, design, ad platforms, and communication tools.

Connect each one through MCP

Set up Model Context Protocol servers for each tool, giving Claude Code direct, permissioned access instead of manual exports and copy-paste.

Test real, multi-step tasks

Ran genuine workflows across tools, like pulling a lead from GoHighLevel, enriching it, and logging it in ClickUp, to prove the connections hold up under real use.

Document the pattern

Turned the working setup into a repeatable pattern so any new tool can be connected the same way in minutes, not hours.

What changed

Before

  • Every tool lived in its own tab, with no way for one to talk to another without manual work.
  • Moving information between systems meant exporting, copying, and re-entering the same data more than once.
  • Multi-step tasks that touched several tools took far longer than the actual thinking involved.

After

  • Claude Code reaches every connected tool directly, reading and writing without manual handoffs.
  • Multi-step, multi-tool tasks that used to take many minutes of switching now run in a single request.
  • Adding a new tool to the setup is now a repeatable, documented process instead of a one-off project.

04Why this approach

Most AI tools are only as useful as the data you manually feed them. Claude Code was capable, but it was working blind to almost everything happening in the actual business.

Connecting it directly to the real tools through MCP removed that bottleneck. It now works with live data in the systems that actually run the business, instead of static exports that go stale the moment they're pulled.

That also made the setup reusable. Once one tool was connected, the pattern for connecting the next one was already proven.
